Sindrome post vacacional.

Racing 1 Getafe 4.

As August draws to close the good working folk of Iberia will be dreading the return to work. This year they are in for a big surprise though. No gossiping for the next few days about holiday experiences, swapping culinary delights, recommending sun creams for next year or showing off photos of little Pepe building sand castles (the only private sector building work taking place in this country at the moment) but a closed office or factory and a redundancy notice pinned to the works front door. People have said to me "Spain is coming out of recession" (they read it in the paper of course) to which i reply how can a country come out of recession when a big percentage of its population has spent the last month playing with themselves on the beach.

Them well worked sun tans are going to last longer than La ilusion in the Los Campos de Sport though, which resembled something that had gravity fallen out of the rear end of a donkey after all of 12 mins and 20 minutes later (0-3) you might as well have walked and gone for a stroll along the coast with an ice cream. The price you pay for not putting them to the sword in the last game of last season and sending Getafe down but there was only one team yesterday who played like a team of big girls blouses. Getafe have learnt thier lesson and pulled their fingers out. They are a team going places playing like that.

According to the weather forecast a Galerna (Atlantic storm) is arriving today but in the Sardinero it came and went yesterday afternoon as Getafe blew away Racing in a stunning first half display. So instead of a Racing team visit to La Feria de Naciones today (as reported in El Delirio Montañes this morning) the whole lot of them should practise centering the ball as yesterday the body language resembled a team of futbolin (table football). That 6 years on the trot losing the opening game and there cannot have been a worst start to a season than that for many a good year.
